Pamuk Saten 83 Raye is a premium line of 100% cotton hotel sheets with a woven stripe, thread density 83 threads/cm² (210 TC), weight 125 g/m². Woven in 4/1 sateen construction with 40/1 yarns in both warp and weft. The stripe is not printed and not dyed — it is woven into the structure of the fabric itself, achieved by alternating sateen zones with narrow bands in the reverse direction of the weave.
This matters to know upfront. The stripe in Pamuk Saten 83 Raye does not fade, does not wear off, and does not change appearance after 200 cycles of industrial laundering — because it is not added to the cloth, it is part of it.
Why hotels choose stripe over plain sateen
In the upper hotel segment there are two schools. One bets on full white without pattern — minimalism, cleanliness, Scandinavian style. The other chooses tone-on-tone woven stripe — a classic of the European hotel standard, visible in the major chains since the 1980s.
The stripe does several things that plain sateen cannot:
- •Adds visual depth to the bed — even from a distance the guest sees that the linen has texture, not "just a white sheet". In Booking or website photography the difference reads immediately.
- •Masks minor imperfections — small creases after bed-making, a light contact with dust or a shadow across the fabric blend into the pattern. Plain sateen shows everything.
- •Signals class — tone-on-tone stripe is a visual code the European guest reads subconsciously as "quality hotel". This is not subjective opinion but a proven design pattern in hospitality.
- •Retains its premium feel through more frequent washing — because the structure conceals small changes in smoothness, the sheet looks new for longer.
Tone-on-tone stripe is a calling card of classic 4–5★ European hotels — present in the corporate standards of brands like Hilton, Marriott and similar hospitality groups. That is why buyers from these properties recognise it immediately as a mark of class, not as decoration.
Which properties it suits
Pamuk Saten 83 Raye is built for the corporate and representational segment:
- •Business and conference 4-star hotels — where the guest travels for work and expects a representational, not pretentious room.
- •Classic-style 5-star hotels — where design follows European tradition, not modern minimalism.
- •Corporate projects and hotel chains — where the same standard is applied across dozens or hundreds of rooms, and the stripe provides brand recognition.
- •Representational apartments and residences — embassies, corporate guest accommodations, VIP rooms in larger properties.
For boutique and design-oriented hotels with a more modern aesthetic we typically recommend the plain Pamuk Saten 83 — a more Scandinavian, contemporary look. Stripe is classic, not trend.
Stripe construction
The stripe in our line is 1 cm wide, tone-on-tone with the base (white on white). This is the standard established in European hotel textile over decades and accepted as the most universal choice. A wider stripe (2–3 cm) gives a more folksy, informal look and typically does not work for corporate properties. A narrower stripe (under 5 mm) becomes hard to distinguish and loses its effect after a few ironing cycles.
For quantities above a certain threshold we can also produce non-standard stripe widths or stripe with a light colour contrast — for example, light grey on white for design projects. This is custom-made and requires a separate specification.
Care and durability
Washing and drying at 60°C — full coverage of hotel sanitary standards. Same recommendations as the plain sateen: no chlorine bleach, no rough fabrics in the same drum, calender ironing at 180–200°C.
One important note about the stripe: when calendering, the feed direction must be along the length of the stripe, not across it. This preserves the clean, taut appearance of the pattern. Cross-direction feeding can give the stripe a slight "wavy" effect — not a defect, but not aesthetically desirable.
With the correct regime, Pamuk Saten 83 Raye retains its premium appearance for 160 to 190 cycles — slightly more than plain sateen, because the stripe masks the early signs of fabric fatigue.

Frequently asked questions
Is the stripe tone-on-tone or contrasting?
The standard execution is tone-on-tone — white on white. It is distinguishable at close range and under certain lighting angles. Contrasting stripe is produced on order.
Can it be combined with plain Pamuk Saten 83 in the same hotel?
Yes, this is a common practice — striped sheets for standard rooms, plain sateen for suite and executive tiers. Both lines share identical technical parameters and are laundered under the same conditions.
Is it suitable for mattresses with a topper?
Yes, the sheets are made in standard hotel sizes that cover mattresses with topper up to 35 cm total height. On request we also make sheets for taller sets.
