Pamuk Saten 83 is our premium line of 100% cotton hotel sheets with a thread density of 83 threads per square centimetre — 210 TC in the international standard. Weight 125 g/m². Woven in a 4/1 sateen construction with fine 40/1 yarns in both warp and weft, which produces the characteristic silken lustre and that distinctive smooth, cool feel against the skin.
This is the sheet for hotels that sell more than a bed — they sell an experience. For properties where the guest turns down the sheet on the first evening and notices the difference, because that difference is exactly what explains why the room costs what it does.
What makes sateen different from ranfors
The difference starts at the weave. Where ranfors uses a 1/1 plain weave (each yarn over-and-under one), sateen is woven 4/1 — each weft yarn passes over four warp yarns and under one. That longer "float" on the surface is why sateen reflects light in its particular way and looks silken despite being pure cotton.
The same construction produces the second characteristic guests feel — coolness. The smooth surface means less friction against the skin and better heat dissipation in the first minutes of lying down. In southern countries and in well-heated hotel rooms, this is a tangible advantage.
The third advantage is visual. Sateen drapes differently from ranfors — more fluidly, with softer folds, without the slightly starched plasticity that ranfors acquires after calender ironing. In website or Booking listing photography, the difference is visible even to an untrained eye.
Which hotels it suits
Pamuk Saten 83 is built for the upper-mid and premium segment:
- •4- and 5-star hotels — as the standard or upgrade sheet for higher-class rooms (suite, executive, premium).
- •Boutique hotels and design properties — where the look of the bed is part of the concept and cannot be compromised.
- •Wellness and spa residences — as a closing note after a treatment, in a room with premium expectations.
- •Corporate villas and luxury short-term rentals — Airbnb Plus, Luxury Retreats and similar platforms, where bed linen quality directly affects reviews.
For mid-segment hotels (3-star and standard aparthotels), we typically recommend Ranfors 63 — not because sateen wouldn't work, but because the cost-versus-benefit for the end guest isn't justified. Sateen is an investment that pays back through room rate and reviews, not through nightly volume.
Durability under industrial laundering
One of the most common questions about sateen is "does it withstand hotel laundering". The answer is yes, with the right conditions. Pamuk Saten 83 is tested for washing at 60°C and drying at 60°C — full sanitary compliance.
What you should know: sateen is more sensitive to abrasion than ranfors because of the long floats on the surface. In practice that means two things. First, do not wash with rough fabrics in the same drum (towels especially, particularly new ones). Second, zippers, wire hooks or forgotten hairpins can leave marks more visible than they would on ranfors. This is not a fabric defect but a characteristic of sateen construction.
With the proper wash regime, Pamuk Saten 83 retains a premium appearance for 150 to 180 cycles — slightly less than ranfors, but in the premium segment the criterion is not "how long does it last" but "when does it start looking tired in front of the guest". That is the moment it gets replaced.
Colour and finish
The standard execution is Optical white with a clean, plain pattern. In sateen, white behaves differently from ranfors — it carries a slight pearl sheen, clearly visible under warm room lighting. This is one of the reasons sateen looks more expensive even in photography, before the guest has touched it.

Frequently asked questions
Does sateen absorb less moisture than ranfors?
No, moisture absorption is practically identical — both fabrics are 100% cotton. The sense of coolness on contact comes not from absorption, but from the smoothness of the surface.
How much more expensive is it compared to Ranfors 63?
Approximately 35–50% higher price for the same item, depending on quantity and current raw cotton prices. The gap narrows on larger orders.
Can it be ordered with a logo or coloured trim?
Yes. With sateen, branding is done via a woven label in the hem or a strip in your corporate colour. We do not recommend embroidered logos on the sateen surface — embroidery compromises smoothness in that area.
